The Volta Regional executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have thrown their support behind Freddie Blay and Sammy Awuku, who is seeking to be reelected as the National Organiser of the party.

The delegates who described Mr Awuku as a ‘grassroots advocate’ illustrated his works as a national officer, communicator and youth organiser contributed to “expand the party’s core membership base”.

Addressing a presser in Hohoe, the NPP Volta Regional Organiser, Emmanuel Korsi Bodja, said “as National Youth Organiser, Sammi was a key player in winning election 2016.

During his tenure, Sammy was a strong advocate of proper training and resource mobilisation and he played a key role in creating the greatest youth constituency for our party.”

He asserted that Mr Awuku has gone through the mill and well refined to occupy the position of National Organiser as he has exhibited to have the “tenacity, integrity, and vision” requisite for such a core position in the party.

He emphasised that the party in the Volta Region is solidly behind Mr Awuku and would contribute effectively to ensure he achieves his aim of becoming the National Organiser to consolidate the gains of the party ahead of the 2020 general elections.

“We’re going to be with him every step of the way”, he stressed.

At the same event, the NPP Volta Regional Chairman, Makafui Woanyah, rallied delegates in the region to vote, Freddie Blay, as the next National Chairman for the governing party.

Mr Woanyah indicated that Mr Blay exhibited great leadership prowess when he revived the party which was “demoralised and hopeless” by introducing reforms and strategies which united the NPP and made it a formidable force ahead of the 2016 elections.

He added that these reforms and strategies resulted in the NPP’s landslide victory in the 2016 elections.

Mr Woanyah further detailed that the NPP witnessed a dynamic change in operations and structures under the watch of Mr Blay with the Volta Region receiving its fair.

“Per the history of the party, we had resources coming in very early towards 2016 elections. He donated two pickups to the Volta Regional party and has done a lot that I will not be able to recount. But we have seen it all and every constituency officer can attest to that.”

“It is in this light that we are calling for the affirmation of Chairman Blay because we believe that where he has taken the party to, there is the need for him to go higher”, he said.

He, therefore, urged delegates who wish well for the elephant fraternity to vote Freddie Blay as the next National Chairman to retain power for the NPP.
