Dr. Rashid Tanko, Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has raised serious concerns about the integrity of the voter register, citing five major discrepancies that render it ineffective for any election.

“We have uncovered five major discrepancies, misconducts, that have rendered the register as ineffective for any EU election,” Dr. Tanko said in an interview on Morning Starr with Lantam Papanko.

“These discrepancies include registered voters whose names are missing completely, qualified voters found in the exception list, people disqualified during the challenge process still in the main register, illegal transfers, and mass movement of people from one polling station to another.”

Dr. Tanko emphasized that these discrepancies are not isolated incidents, but rather widespread issues affecting all 16 regions. “It’s not even a clear one. All the 16 regions. All the 16 regions,” he stressed.

The NDC has reached out to the Electoral Commission, seeking an urgent emergency report to resolve these discrepancies before the December report. “Without them being resolved, the register cannot be used for any purpose,” Dr. Tanko warned.

When asked if these discrepancies could be genuine mistakes, Dr. Tanko responded, “This cannot be a genuine mistake. The electoral process is we don’t have mistakes or we don’t have errors.”
