Wa East NPP retains Bayon Tangu as parliamentary candidate

Funsi (UW), May 15, GNA- The Wa East Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has retained Mr Godfred Bayon Tangu, Minister of State in charge of Transportation as its parliamentary candidate for this year's election at its special delegates congress held at Funsi. Mr Bayon Tangu was declared unopposed and endorsed by acclamation by 101 polling station chairman, who were present for the election. Mr Yahaya Mahama, Upper West Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, supervised the election with the assistance of an official of the Wa East District office of the Commission.

Mr Tangu thanked the delegates for re-electing him and promised to retain the seat for the party, saying the NPP government has done enough of what was expected of it to be retained in power.

He said voters in his constituency could bear testimony to the numerous roads, school buildings, health facilities that have been provided by the government to give them better lives, a development, which he observed had never been seen in the area since the country's independence.

He announced that the Government would use part of a 20 million US dollar Dutch government assistance to construct bridges over the Kulun and the Ambalaara rivers, which rendered parts of the constituency inaccessible when it got flooded during the rainy season.

The MP appealed to all those of voting age to register when the voter's register is opened and to vote for the NPP to continue with its good work.

Alhaji Abdul-Rahman Abubakari, Upper West Regional Chairman of the Party commended voters in the constituency for giving the Party a Member of Parliament in the last election and appealed to them to do the same this year as a gratitude for his good work.

He said the NPP would be retained in power this year and urged the people not to be swayed by the negative propaganda that the NDC has waged against it to capture their minds.

"We have seen what they did in their 19 years rule. They will bring nothing new if you vote for them. So we should be suspicious of their gestures".
