A group of individuals identifying themselves as the NDC Youth of Obuasi has, in a viral video, threatened to unleash violence during the upcoming 2024 General Elections.
The youth, wearing NDC T-shirts, brazenly declared their readiness to visit mayhem, especially on the Electoral Commission, should the Commissioners act in a manner they perceive as unfavourable to the NDC party.
"We, the NDC Youth Obuasi branch, have met here. We are well prepared for Election 2024. Whether the Electoral Commission declares victory for the NDC or not, we have won the elections. To the EC, be warned about the things you are doing. If you are prepared, we are more prepared. Your police and soldiers cannot help you.
"We are well prepared. If you make any mistakes this year, we'll turn your flesh into khebab. On December 7, we'll declare ourselves winners of the elections. There is no party in Ghana other than the NDC. If you [EC] joke, we'll cut your head off. You joke with us at your own peril," the group warned.
In response, the Police Service issued a brief statement: "We wish to state that the behaviour of the group constitutes the offence of offensive conduct conducive to breaches of the peace, contrary to section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29)."
"A police operation is currently underway to apprehend the individuals involved and bring them to justice," the statement added.
