Residents of the Ablekuma North Constituency in the Greater Accra Region are the only people currently without representation in the 9th Parliament of Ghana.

The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has still not completed the re-collation of the constituency’s 2024 parliamentary election results after cancelling the initially declared results, which were in favour of the candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ewurabena Aubynn.

The EC annulled the declaration and ordered a re-collation of the results, stating that it was done without the results from about 61 polling stations.

After backs-and-forths in court over the matter, the re-collation was done, but the results of 13 polling stations were in contention, with the EC, the NDC, and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) claiming they had no pink sheets from the said stations.

Somehow, the pink sheets for the polling stations in question were found, allowing the re-collation process to resume on January 8, 2024.

However, the NDC alleged that the pink sheets presented for the exercise were doctored, leading to the invitation of the presiding officers from the affected polling stations to verify the said pink sheets.

A video shared by Citi FM on X showed the moment one of the presiding officers rejected the pink sheet he supposed issued.

After initially corroborating some of the figures on the pink sheet, the presiding officer expressed shock when he reached the section regarding rejected ballots.

A figure was recorded there, which he claimed he had no knowledge of.

“The figures here are correct, but as for us, we didn’t get any rejected ballots. But I can see rejected ballots here. I cannot confirm that. We didn’t have any rejected ballot papers on that day,” he said.
