Dr Bryan Acheampong (in white attire with the hand raised) received heroic welcome at conference
Supporters of Dr Bryan Acheampong were seen rallying behind him at the just-ended New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2025 National Delegates Conference held on July 19, 2025, signaling growing grassroots interest in his potential leadership role within the party.
The conference, held under the theme “Rebuilding Together with Our Values,” brought together more than 5,500 delegates from across the country to deliberate on proposed constitutional reforms and internal restructuring aimed at strengthening the party’s base.
Although the event primarily focused on policy discussions and party reforms, the arrival of Dr Acheampong, alongside other potential contenders for the NPP’s 2028 flagbearership, drew significant attention from both delegates and party members.
As he made his entrance, groups of enthusiastic supporters were seen chanting his name and waving banners, calling for him to lead the party into the future.
Spontaneous chants of “BA! BA! BA!” echoed across the conference grounds, with many attendees describing him as a trusted and visionary leader.
Some supporters also held placards with slogans such as “We need a face with vision” and “In Bryan, NPP will be revived.”
Dr Acheampong, who currently serves as the Member of Parliament for Abetifi, has indicated plans to contest for the NPP’s presidential slot in the January 2026 primaries.
The visible show of support at the conference suggests his candidacy would be welcomed by sections of the party’s grassroots.
Meanwhile, party delegates have emphasised the need for a new generation of leadership, one capable of uniting the party’s base, restoring public trust, and appealing to a broader national electorate.
The main focus of the conference centered on party reforms and constitutional amendments. Out of 56 proposed motions, 54 were approved, while two were rejected by party members.
