Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has said his party has constructed more roads and railways in the history of Ghana’s Fourth Republic.
He added that about 2.1 million jobs have also been created for the teeming unemployed youth in the country.
Making this known at a media engagement on Sunday, August 25, 2024, Dr. Bawumia said, "We have created 2.1 million jobs in the last 7 years and this is hard data..."
"We've built more roads, three times the length of roads than what he did when in office. We've built more railways than any other government in the Fourth Republic," he added.
The Pokuase Interchange, Tema Motorway Interchange Ph.1, Suhum Interchange, among others, are some of the road projects completed by the Akufo-Addo administration.
Apart from these, he cited the restoration of teacher trainee allowances and retaining public sector workers during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic as some achievements made by the NPP.
The media engagement comes one week after the NPP launched its manifesto. Dr. Bawumia's interaction with the media is to provide the public with a clearer understanding of his vision ahead of the December polls.
