The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has extended congratulatory messages to the Republican Party and President-Elect Donald Trump for emerging as winners in the U.S. general elections.

The NPP, in its statement released on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, described Trump’s win as an endorsement of his vision and ideals by the American people.

“The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is pleased to join the rest of the World to officially congratulate its counterpart in the United States, the Republican Party; the President-Elect, H.E. Donald Trump; and Vice President-Elect, H.E. J.D. Vance, for emerging victorious in the just ended 2024 US Elections. This victory, without a doubt, is an emphatic endorsement of the vision and ideals of the Republican Party by the good people of the United States,’ parts of the statement read.

Referencing the longstanding relationship between the NPP and the Republicans, the statement, signed by Justin Frimpong Kodua, the General Secretary, expressed hope that they, also bearing the elephant symbol like the Republicans, will emerge victorious in the 2024 general elections, including the upcoming December polls.

It further drew parallels between the similar policies and campaign messages of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Donald Trump.

“To this extent, we are excited to learn that increasingly, centre-right philosophies are receiving overwhelming support across the globe. It is our fervent hope that just like the United States, Ghana's "elephant party", will also emerge victorious in the December polls, by the grace of God. This is so, particularly because, both President Trump and H.E. Dr. Bawumia share BOLD SOLUTIONS for their respective countries,” the statement added.

The NPP’s message comes in the wake of Donald Trump winning the U.S. elections after securing 276 electoral votes, according to foreign media projections, notably CNN.
