Former National Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr. Yaw Boateng Gyan says it will be a bad precedent for President John Mahama to be one-time President in the political history of Ghana.

According to him, all efforts must be geared toward making President Mahama retain the presidency in the upcoming 2016 general elections considering the seriousness attached to the upcoming elections by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Speaking on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Yaw Boateng Gyan pointed out that though the Mahama-led administration has done enough work to retain the Presidency in the next elections, the 2016 elections will not come easy for NDC.

“We can’t afford to make President Mahama one-term president; we will do all we can by any means necessary to retain him as the President of Ghana. We don’t want him to be in the history of Ghana’s politics as a one-time president”, he charged.

He called on all members of the ruling party to put their shoulders to the wheel and make the dream of retaining the Presidency come through since their political rival, the NPP have laced their boots to wrestle power in 2016 elections.

Still peeved over the role played by the former Chief of Staff, Mr. Prosper Bani in his shocking defeat to Kofi Adams at the party's national delegates congress held last year, the former NDC National Organiser said he is not bothered if the presidency did indeed support Kofi Adams to knock him out in the contest, but is rather hurt by the false accusation that he embezzled funds meant for the party agents prior to the congress.

The former NDC National Executive member lost to Kofi Adams, a former spokesperson of former President Jerry John Rawlings at a Congress last December.

Kofi Adams polled 2,543 votes while the incumbent, Yaw Boateng Gyan managed a paltry 734 votes.
