We knew Wontumi will score own goal against NPP – Former DCE

A former District Chief Executive for Sekyere Afram Plains, Fuseini Donkor has stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) wished and worked for Bernard Antwi Boasiako alias Wontumi to be elected as the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to Mr Fuseini who is the NDC’s Ashanti Regional Director of Special Duties, the NDC knew the eventual benefit it stood to gain with the election of Wontumi.

“We were all praying for Wontumi to win because we knew he would score own goals for us. So we campaigned for his victory and we were happy when he won,” he stated on Onua TV’s Onua Maakye program.

He emphasized the commitment of the NDC to consolidate its gains the Ashanti Region which has always been a stronghold of the NPP.

The NDC claimed massive victory in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary election. While the NDC targeted 12 seats in the region, they clinched 8 out of the 37 available seats in the region.

Meanwhile, Fuseini Donkor has served notice that the NDC will file a court process to claim the Obuasi East seat which he insists was won by his party but has been given to the NPP.

“Obuasi East we won and we won’t allow that seat to go. You could see the pink sheets have been altered by pen. We’ll go to court and get our seat back,” he added.
