The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has called on his party’s supporters to massively participate in the “picketing the Electoral Commission” on Wednesday by the Let My Vote Count (LMVCA) Alliance, Alliance For Accountable Governance (AFAG), Movement for Change and other groups.

According to the National Organizer, a free, fair and credible elections in 2016, depends on a new Voters’ Register, which is non-negotiable.

“A new voters’ register is the very foundation in which we can be assured of fair elections…The NPP is putting all resources and energy behind this action”, he said.

Addressing a mammoth forum at Drug Lane, Okaishie in Accra, the NPP’s National Organizer said, the only way the country can experience a change in government to save the people from President Mahama’s crass incompetence, is for the EC to compile a new register for the 2016 elections.

Outlining some of the reasons for a new voters register, Mr. John Boadu referred to the recent Press conference by Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, where he produced incontrovertible evidence that Ghana’s voters register is bloated and not credible for the 2016 elections.

“Since Dr. Bawumia started this exercise, we have discovered as many as seventy-six thousand Togolese voters in the Ghana voters register; and we are not done yet!”, he said.

According to the NPP Organiser, the Party’s diligent investigations into the current flawed voters register also revealed that unauthorized persons had accessed the Electoral Commission’s high-level security database and manipulated the voters register by adding, removing or changing voters’ data, without authorization.

“And that is why the NDC’s current “Biometric” membership registration exercise of only collecting national voter ID card numbers without any biometric data is suspicious”, he said.

Mr. John Boadu also referred to the over five hundred thousand voter disparity in the presidential and parliamentary voters register as well as the recent Supreme Court declaration that voter ID cards acquired with NHIS cards, were null and void.

The National Organiser used the platform to call on members, supporters and sympathisers of the NPP, as well as all Ghanaians who want Ghana to be saved from the Mahama-led NDC’s poor performance, to join the “picketing the Electoral Commission”, from Wednesday morning, September 16th, 2015.

“The NPP will support and be fully represented. We want a new Voters’ Register now,” he said.
