We will support every effort to bring NDC to power - Former executives

Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Executives from the Branches, Constituencies, Regional, and National levels have pledged their commitment to intensify their campaign for a massive victory in the December 7, 2024, General Elections.

This was revealed by Tawiah Boateng, former NDC Eastern Regional Chairman, during a one-day training and sensitization engagement for members of the Eastern Regional chapter of The Coalition of NDC Former Executives (CONFEX).

He expressed their strong commitment to collaborate and deploy their experiences to complement the efforts of current executives to secure a convincing victory and salvage Ghana from the economic and social mess of the Nana Addo-Bawumia governance.

In his address, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, former General Secretary, emphasized the importance of unity within the party, cautioning members against complacency. While confident in the NDC’s chances, he urged party members to remain focused on the campaign and work diligently towards achieving an overwhelming victory.

"Until every ballot paper is counted, we have not won. We must bring everyone on board, be they former or current executives, or even ordinary members. Everyone has a role to play,” Afriyie Ankrah stated.

Using his own experience as an example, he recounted how, despite losing a contest, he remained committed to the party and continued working hard. He encouraged other former executives to actively participate in party activities at all levels. "Let your experiences and understanding of elections be an advantage as your contribution to the party’s success."

He stressed that the current hardship under the ruling NPP government can only be reversed when the NDC is in power, and therefore members have a responsibility to join the campaign and help save the country from mismanagement.

Former Eastern Regional NDC Chairman, Tawiah Boateng, shared CONFEX's main objective: ensuring victory for former President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC in the 2024 General Elections, as well as increasing the party’s parliamentary seats.

He expressed confidence that the experience and insights of former executives would be invaluable in securing an easy victory.

Boateng highlighted past tensions between former and current executives, which had negatively affected the party's parliamentary seats. He revealed that some discontented former executives had even supported independent candidates, but assured that CONFEX is determined to bridge the gap and bring everyone together to avoid such setbacks in 2024.

Boateng is optimistic about reuniting this vast network of individuals to bolster the party’s campaign. He emphasized the need for current and former executives to see each other as allies rather than rivals, pointing out that current executives will one day also become former.

"We are ever ready to work hand in hand with the current leadership to ensure victory in 2024. Divided, we fall, but united, we will win this election and secure more parliamentary seats," he declared.

Boateng urged all former executives to avoid conflicts with their successors and to understand that their role is to complement the efforts of the current executives, not compete for positions.

His message was clear: working together as one cohesive team will lead the NDC to a resounding victory on December 7, 2024.

The former NDC Chairman for the Abuakwa North Constituency, Mr. David Kwadwo Siaw Frempong, stated that they are fully prepared to collaborate with the current executives in the region to ensure victory for the party in the 2024 General Elections.

He urged both his former colleagues and the current executives to cooperate and work together as a team. "I am confident we will win these elections. We need more parliamentary seats. United we stand, divided we fall," he remarked.

Siaw also advised former executives not to engage in conflicts with the current leadership, emphasizing that there is no threat of former executives taking their positions. Instead, their role is to assist in achieving the party's goals.

"If you are a current executive, no former executive is here to take your position. Everything we are doing is aimed at complementing and supporting the current executives to achieve the party's objectives on December 7, 2024," he assured.

Madam Anita Desoso, former National Women Organizer and also National Vice Chairperson, pledged the unflinching commitment of all former women executives to the NDC agenda at all levels.

She charged former executives to see the NDC first and prioritize its growth and victory in any elections. She assured Ghanaians of good governance under a Mahama presidency. She encouraged women to continue praying for the victory of the NDC in the coming elections.

William Kwame Atamudzi, former Branch Executive, former Constituency Executive, former Regional Vice Chairman, and now Deputy National Director of Welfare, underscored the benefits of collaboration between former party executives and the current executives.

The partnership, according to him, signals a victory for the NDC in the upcoming 2024 parliamentary and presidential General Elections.

Atamudzi encouraged a strategic move at all levels to ensure a massive membership drive to support the NDC transformation agenda for Ghana.

He acknowledged that former executives are often forgotten after leaving their roles, but urged all to put the past behind and join forces with the current leadership to move the party forward towards a resounding victory in the 2024 elections.

He emphasized that when it comes to advancing the party, everyone’s contribution matters, and he called on the current executives to embrace inclusivity and work together with all members in the region.
