Mr. Kobina Ade Coker, Greater-Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said as a social democratic party, the NDC sees the welfare and prosperity of Ghanaians as its most important responsibility.
According to him, the government would spare no effort to provide economic and social services that would make life comfortable for all Ghanaians.
Mr. Coker made these remarks when he joined the residents of the Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipality in a clean-up campaign after donating various items including used clothing, toiletries and mosquito nets worth more than 1,000 cedis on behalf of the party to the LEKMA Hospital.
He said the NDC has already donated items to the Pantang hospital, adding that other hospitals in the Greater-Accra Region would soon benefit from the party’s charity.
Mr. Coker said the clean-up exercise was a signal to people in the community on the need to keep their environments clean.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Seth Badu Tawiah, said poor sanitation was “a big predicament” in the Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipality, and has to be given the attention it deserves. .
According to him, as part of measures to improve sanitation in the Municipality, the Assembly is liaising with Zoomlion, a waste and sanitation management group, to start prosecuting people who discriminately dump refuse to make the surroundings untidy.
The MCE was pleased with the work done by the residents, and encouraged them to store the household rubbish in dustbins and rubbish bags, to be collected periodically.
The residents cleaned the Nungua market, Nungua C5, Nungua Wulomo area, LEKMA Hospital and the Tsuibleoo drive in Teshie.
