The founder and Chairperson of the People's National Party (PNP), Ms. Janet Nabla, believes that women have no real place in politics.

She bases her argument on the fact that the only position typically reserved for women is that of the women's organizer.

However, all other positions are contested by men who will do everything in their power to ensure that a woman does not win.

"I'm not surprised that a lot of women are running away from politics. The pressure and tension out there are unbearable, especially if you are a woman and you want to go to the top. They will throw stones at you and make sure they pull you down.

The place for women in Ghana's politics is to be under men. Either you are a women's organizer or a Deputy, just under them. In the formation of a political party, we have a Chairman who is a man, the General Secretary is a man, the Organizer is a man, the Communications Secretary is a man. Only the Women's Organizer is reserved for women, and even when taking crucial decisions during NEC meetings, you'll be told you have to go and look for food and water because that is why you were given the position in the first place," she said.

Regarding why women do not want to put themselves out there for political positions, she indicated that it is because of discouragement from society, noting that her family opposed her contesting for the General Secretary position in the PNC.
