Member of Parliament for Abetifi Constituency and flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Bryan Acheampong, has given firm assurances that women will be placed at the very heart of the party’s rebuilding process as well as Ghana’s national development agenda.

At a two-day meeting with NPP women executives last weekend, Dr Acheampong delivered a message of inclusion, stressing that the contributions and sacrifices of women must never be ignored if the party hopes to remain strong and competitive going into the 2028 elections.

“Women must never be shortchanged in our politics. They are the backbone of our organisation, and I am committed to ensuring that they remain at the heart of our agenda,” he said.

He explained that women have always been the lifeline of the NPP’s grassroots organisation, mobilising voters in constituencies, coordinating activities, and sustaining the energy of the party even during challenging political times. Yet, he noted, their influence has not always translated into the recognition and resources they deserve.

Dr Bryan Acheampong called for a deliberate effort to address this imbalance, pledging that under his leadership, women would not just be seen as support structures but as decision-makers and active participants in shaping the NPP’s policies and strategies.

“Rebuilding this party requires the full involvement of women at every level, from polling stations to national leadership. Without them, unity and renewal cannot be achieved,” he said.

He further outlined his belief that women’s empowerment is not simply a social commitment but an economic and political necessity.

He argued that women’s perspectives and leadership styles have proven to be transformative in communities and workplaces, and this must be reflected in the country’s governance.

The women’s wing executives expressed appreciation for his message, with many describing it as a refreshing assurance that directly acknowledges their long-standing efforts.

They noted that the pledge to make women central to the NPP’s future is not only timely but essential to energise the party’s base as it prepares for the next electoral cycle.
