Director of Political Affairs at the Presidency, Manaf Ibrahim has told Kumasi-based Pure FM that the Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bernard Antwi Boasiako alias Chairman Wontumi and his Secretary, Sam Pyne have been influenced in their decision against him.
He suggests the two Regional Executives have gone to take bribe from someone and are trying to force a very unpopular decision down the throats of constituents he vowed to resist.
“Blame Sam Pyne and Chairman Wontumi, they are the ones who have gone to collect something and doing everything possible to push me out of the contest”, he revealed in an interview monitored by MyNewsGh.com.
Chairman Wontumi had earlier on confirmed the indefinite suspension of Parliamentary Aspirant at Asawase Constituency, Manaf Ibrahim.
He disclosed on Kumasi-based Pure Fm that the Presidential Staffer has been handed an infinite suspension for violating the party rules and regulations and showing disrespect to the Regional Executive Committee of the party.
By this, he indicate that Manaf Ibrahim is not a member of good standing and cannot contest in the forthcoming parliamentary primary of the party for orphan constituencies.
But reacting to his suspension, the aspirant said it is part of machinations by the party’s hierarchy to stop him from contesting the current Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Asokore-Mampong who they are rooting for to go unopposed.
“What people don’t know is that there have been machinations to impress on me to rescind on my decision to contest Hon. Alidu Seidu in the upcoming primaries. How do the NPP then expect to win the elections now that they claim to suspend me”, he asked.
