The Ashanti Regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako affectionately called Chairman Wontumi literally lost his cool on live radio and hurled insults at the NPP Asokwa constituency chairman, Asare Bediako, his main opponent in the upcoming NPP party primaries describing him as stupid and foolish for questioning his source of funding of GHC250, 000 used to purchase forms for some party hopefuls who participated in the just ended polling station elections.

Chairman Wontumi in a media interview which is being circulated on social media remarked that, Asare Bediako had no locus in questioning the source of his money as he has been helping the party since time immemorial and he is a senior in the party to the Asokwa constituency chairman so under no circumstances should he explain where he gets his money from to him.

He remarked that such questions are useless and clearly the man [Asare Bediako] asked a stupid question pointing out that, if Asare Bediako has no idea, he is the Regional Chairman of the NPP and answers to no one so the man should shut up as he is no match for him.

But reacting to the insults, Chairman Asare Bediako in an interview on Kumasi-based Angel FM with sit-in host Yaw Nimako explained that he only sought for clarification and meant no harm.

He said he is shocked at the remarks of Wontumi as it’s very sad to have such a person as a leader of the party in the region.

He indicated that, his question was geared towards due process as Chairman Wontumi is said to be going around bragging about buying forms for polling stations executives to the tune of GHC250, 000, it might turn out to be a cost to the party if things are not made clear to the people he represents and accounts to.

He called on the top hierarchy of the party to call Chairman Wontumi to order as his careless utterances have the tendency of marring the reputation of the party in the region and the elections ahead.
