YB extends best wishes to NPP candidates

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) goes to the polls again this weekend. This time around members of the Party will elect regional executives across the country.

The Party, in preparation towards the 2016 general elections, held peaceful elections at the polling station and constituency level in the last few months of 2013, and it is expected that the regional executives’ elections will also be peaceful and successful.

In accordance with the Party’s Constitution and electoral practices, the elections will be held across the country simultaneously with about 250 candidates hoping to be elected to one of the 100 available positions (10 in each region).

The Party has urged all delegates, about 5,000 of them, to ensure that they have completed travel arrangements ahead of time.

Voting is expected to commence around 9am on 25th January 2014, and it is expected that the outcome of the elections will be known by 5pm the same day.

The Party will then hold its widely anticipated national executive elections on 1st March 2014.

Yaw Buaben Asamoah (YB), who is believed to be the next head of the Party’s secretariat, has been encouraging delegates around the country to vote for competent, selfless and hardworking leaders.

YB, as he is popularly referred to, asked the delegates to check the record and background of the candidates who appeared before them to solicit their votes.

YB, who spent the last week in the Western Region, has been meeting with delegates in the Brong Ahafo Region in the last three days.

He told delegates that 2016 will not be an easy task and that the Party will need committed and loyal persons, from the bottom to the top, to manage the affairs of the Party, and ensure victory in 2016.

The delegates thanked YB for his advice and promised to put same into action. They also stated that they were confident YB was the general secretary the Party needs for 2016.

They commended YB for the role he played during the presidential election petition as the spokesperson for the Petitioners.

They described the petition as the best form of education of electoral processes that the Party could get, and that YB’s explanation after proceedings on radio and television, made it easier for everyone at the grassroots level to appreciate what needs to be done in 2016 in order to secure victory for the Party.

YB reiterated the need for unity in the Party after the internal elections, which he described as a necessary reorganization, are over.

He stated that if the Party is united, the second leg of his campaign message, to wit, protecting the ballot will be achieved. YB took the opportunity and wished all contestants for regional executive positions the very best in their campaign and on polling day.
