THE YOUNGEST NPP PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATE DECLARES

Yagba/Kubori Constituents Have Been Neglected Too Much For Too Long !!!!

Mustapha Ussif (Liman) of Tantaala in Yagba/Kubori Constituency in Ghana, is presently one of Ghana’s youngest parliamentary aspirant. The awe inspiring and admirable gentleman won the just recent contest for an NPP Parliamentary candidate for Yagba/Kubori Constituency. His desire to serve his people and to have their needs attended to began when he was yet a child. He recounts how in 1994 he met women carrying heavy loads with children at their back, who had to walk for two days from Tantaala, Yikpabongu, Yizeisi to FUNBISI market due to the bad state of roads in these areas. Something which is still happening today. His constituents have to walk long miles to and from their farms and even the nearest hospital, because there is no public transport. His community lacks a lot of things which could have given him more meaning to life as a kid; he felt the impact of the poor development in his area and that geared him as a kid to do something about the situation.

Mustapha during his early part of his life time never got to enjoy electricity because there is no electricity in his area even till now. The state of his constituency is in a deplorable state and it is so sad that no single village in his constituency have access to electricity and during raining season the second “oversea’s part of his constituency is to a large extent cut off from Ghana. Without looking at hindrances, Mustapha during his early days decided to discourage all discouragements to pick up the tasked of preparing himself to galvanize his people to victory one day. After several years of making this promise and preparing fervently for the task ahead, now the time has come. As a member of the biggest opposition party in Ghana, New Patriotic Party, NPP, he has been able to prove that if his party will elect him as their candidate for his constituency he will stand and win victory for his people, which happens to be the prior vision of his party. Yes his positive efforts and capabilities made him the winner during the recent NPP Parliamentary Aspirants Election.

As a loving child of the land, Mustapha has given priority to revitalizing his constituency through a comprehensive programs of reform; strengthening the constituencies work in the areas of development and the maintenance of peace in his area and region as a whole, advocating in parliament for human rights, the rule of law and the values of equality, tolerance and human dignity; restoring public confidence in the people by bringing the decision making and leadership closer to the people. Mustapha has taken a leading role by traveling abroad to gain more knowledge and ideas to help achieve his dream of reviving his constituency. The battle against poverty, and more importantly against the absence of electricity and bridge to link the second overseas part of the area has been one of his key focus.

Born in Tamale, the Northern Regional capital, on 16 August 1979, to Mma Abiba Issifu and Baba Issifu Liman, the 1989 national best cassava farmer, Mustapha studied at the Anglia Ruskin University at Chelmsford, UK, for his Bachelor’s degree in International Business Management and completed his post-graduate MBA Finance and Investment at the University of Gloucestershire, UK, in 2011. From 1998 to 2001, he undertook a teacher’s training Course for a Certificate “A” at the Bagabaga Teachers Training Collage. He masters in the fields of Oil and Gas Revenue Management, Corporate Finance, Financial Market and Investments Analysis, and Strategic Financial Management. Mustapha received an ACCA part I and II recognition from the Association of Certified Accountants after he successfully completed the program.

Mustapha joined the New Patriotic Party in 1996, working for the party at the Salaga Senior Secondary School, in the Northern Region. At the Bagabaga Training Collage Branch of the party he played the role of the Branch Organiser, a role he handled very well.

During the 2000 elections he volunteered as a party agent for the NPP, ensuring the party win the 2000 election, which they did.

At the UK branch of NPP, Mr. Mustapha held senior positions in a diverse range of areas, including a member of the Communications Committee. He goes on radio to spread the vision of his party and the needs of his party as part of his contribution to serve his country and then party. Full of hard work, Mustapha worked with the Ghana Educational Service as a teacher in 2001, joined DHL logistics as an employee in UK and then to Action Aid UK as a freelance translator in 2010.

Before becoming the NPP Parliamentary aspirant for the constituency, Mr. Mustapha Ussif undertook a number of special assignments as his contribution to develop his community.

a.In the late 2010, he facilitated the distribution of exercise books to some selected schools in his constituency.

b.He led initial negotiations with some of his people to unite and combat poverty and hardship from the area.

c. He is currently trying to address most of the problems some of his people face by seeking intensive assistance to international NGOs to come and operate in this area to improve life of his constituents.

According to him he believed no one can build a successful Northern Ghana apart from the Northerners themselves, therefore he plans to propose to Government, a vision to get the former and sitting vice president, representatives of the chiefs, civic society, political organizations, businesses ,non governmental organizations, Christian and muslim leaders to come together to form this peace campaign initiative.

If 50+ years after Ghana independence there still remains one constituency, Yagba/ Kubori among the 230 constituencies in Ghana with huge challenges.

a. lack of electricity and pipe borne water,

b. during raining season people from the second oversea part in this constituency cannot travel,

c. students from this poor constituency are left on their own mercy without any mentoring, encouragement and support,

d. people still have to die on bicycle whiles transporting them to the nearest hospital and yet

The current ‘MP IS SILENT’ about the plight of the people who voted him to represent their interest, then there is the need to ask the people to vote for change. This change is synonymous with Mustapha.

Mr. Mustapha has vowed to be an advocate for peace and unity in his area and to negotiate and lobby for immeasurable developmental projects for his people if elected as an MP. He has called for leaders to encourage businesses to respect standards relating to the environment, employment laws and human rights.

On the national level, Mustapha if elected will propose that, Government should appoint Mr Kofi Annan and Dr Mohammed ibn Chambas as Goodwill Ambassadors to promote trade and investment iin the country. The idea is for the country to take the advantage of the exposure and international recognition OF THESE TWO GENTLEMEN to lure more investment into the country to boost the economy.

I have played a leading role in galvanizing people in his community to combat hardship. Mr. Mustapha has received congratulatory messages from many people even in the opposition parties in and outside his constituency, as well as number dignitaries for his positive motive and contributions to the aims and purposes of his constituency.

Mustapha is fluent in several Ghanaian languages mampruli, twi, hausa just to mention a few. He is married to Zulfawu Fuseini, Zulfawu’s issues of particular concern are employment and education for the girl child. Mustapha and Zulfawu have two children, Harfa Nasara and Maligu Jamal.

In his own words “ The big thing I’m trying to do is use the little skill and knowledge I acquired over the years, to encourage and inspire the youth in my constituency and Ghana at large to use their skills to help restore our nation on a path to success. We can do it.” Insha Allah
