A member of the Ashanti Regional Communications Team of the NPP, Keskine Owusu Poku has criticised Eugene Boakye Antwi, the former Member of Parliament for Subin, for making public the party's internal issues.

In an interview on Hello FM on January 15, 2025, Owusu Poku mentioned that the New Patriotic Party will be restructuring in an attempt to address potential issues within the organization and possibly find solutions for their loss in the 2024 general elections.

He suggested that the discussions and blame-shifting by certain individuals within the party, particularly the former Subin lawmaker and a former Deputy Minister for Works and Housing are unlikely to resolve any issues, calling the public commentary unnecessary.

“…I know the party’s leadership are taking various steps with the ongoing restructuring. I will appeal to some senior party members to stop talking. They are talking too much, and these senior members are supposed to caution and bring the younger ones to order but are rather the ones talking,” he said.

Owusu Poku pointed out that Eugene Boakye Antwi, a senior party member and a member of Akufo-Addo government, who played a key role in the push to remove Ken Ofori-Atta as then finance minister has no moral right to point fingers.

He went on to say that if anyone should be blamed for the party's defeat, it would be Eugene Boakye Antwi.

“Funny enough, these are persons who played an integral role in Akufo-Addo’s administration, so if there is anybody to blame, then it's him [Eugene].”

He called on Eugene Boakye Antwi and other party members who have publicly criticised the party to refrain from doing so, emphasising the importance of the party uniting and taking time to reflect on their loss.

Eugene Boakye Antwi and Musah Superior are talking too much. Where these two people have gotten to, they should have rather come together to help restructure the party. It is not about talking. We need a sober reflection of what happened…,” he concluded.

His comments came after Eugene Boakye Antwi's public criticism of the NPP’s leadership. The former Subin lawmaker is known for his bold stance against former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
