WA, Dec. 24, GNA - Front Liners, a concerned youth group within the National Democratic Congress in the Upper West Region has commended the Party for "smoothly and transparently" organizing zonal, constituency and branch elections in the region.

In a statement issued at Wa on Thursday, the group said: "the ability of the NDC party to build consensus, unity of purpose and mutual respect for one another devoid of ethnic, religious and other tendencies is commendable and worthy of emulation by other political parties" The statement called on the national executive of the party to replicate it in the forth coming youth, women and national delegates' congresses and those of the Brong-Ahafo and Northern Regions which were yet to go to congress.

The group was grateful to President John Atta Mills for appointing some citizens of the Region to his cabinet.

They are Mr. Joseph Yieleh Chireh, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Dr. Benjamin Kunbuor, Minister of Health and Mr. Abdul Rashid Pelpuo, Minister of Youth and Sports.

They urged the new regional executives of the party not to be complacent in lobbying for development projects for the region which was considered as the poorest in the 2008 Ghana Living Standard Survey report. The Statement reminded the government on the need to fulfill the promises it made to the people of the region on the eve of the last elections. 24 Dec.09
