The Zawren Nduom Movement, was launched at the weekend to champion the course of peace and prosperity within the Zongo and Muslim communities.
Zawren Nduom, which in the Hausa language means “the Hall of Nduom”, was intended to promote the well-being of members of the various communities in terms of education and job creation opportunities, particularly for the youth, to enhance productivity.
Madam Jamila Ibrahim Maizango, the Communication Director for Zawren Ndoum, said the Movement is a registered non-governmental organization, formed by independent-minded individuals who have followed Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom as a person, his businesses and political life for some years now.
“Indeed we find Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom as a savior of the Zongos; a real statesman who looks beyond his home town and region and offer development to any part of the country that so much deserves it,” she said.
She said this was evident by the visible number of companies that has been established by Group Nduom in all the regions, saying, the Zongo communities have not been left out in the development agenda.
She said Ghana`s biggest challenges currently are economic hardship and youth unemployment, and it is believed that these problems could only be solved by a person with an economic background, an entrepreneurship and job creation skills such as Dr Ndoum.
Madam Maizango said the formation of the Zawren Nduom Movement is therefore to acknowledge Dr Nduom’s excellent leadership qualities and to propagate his good works to all Zongo and Muslim communities.
She urged all Zongo youth, to stand up, rally behind and canvass for support for Dr Ndoum and the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) in the Election 2016, “for there is going to be an uncountable benefit for all people living in the Zongo and Muslim communities and the nationwide at large”.
“We are convinced beyond all reasonable doubts that Dr Nduom is the only resourceful person standing amongst the array of Presidential candidates to take the Zongos and for that matter Ghana to the level that majority of us are yearning for,” she said.
She said most of Dr Nduom’s ideas are synonymous with some of the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammed.
Giving examples, she mentioned the PPP’s policy on free education for every Ghanaian child of school going age from kindergarten to senior high school, his advocacy for the separation of the Attorney General’s Office from the Ministry of Justice, and the call for the election of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives, as clear cases.
She said these are to ensure equality, equity, fairness accountability and justice, which also goes a long way to ensure the needed peace and security for national development.
The Chief of Sabon Zongo, Yahya Hamisu Baako, expressed the view that though it was acknowledged that the PPP as a good party, and its founder Dr Nduom, a man of vision whose patriotism has vibrated the whole nation, yet his followers lack the ambition to sell what he has in store for the Zongo communities and nation at large.
He advised the people living within these communities to stay awake and stop voting or supporting politicians who come to them with empty promises and after election abandon them.
