Saltpond (C/R), June 15, GNA - The New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters have been urged to uphold the Danquah-Busia tradition and champion the course of the vision of the founding fathers.

Mr Kwaku Ofori-Adu, the former Central Regional Chairman of NPP, who made the call, said it would be very sad, if members could out of personal ambition destroy the noble ideas and the course chartered by the founders.

He was commenting on certain developments in the party in an interview with GNA at Saltpond on Tuesday.

"We should not out of discontentment throw the baby away with the dirty water.

The hard times the nation is going through should not make us waiver in our support for the party."

Shoe-shine boys, traders, students, farmers, fishermen traditional rulers and workers, whose contributions made the party chalked successes in the two past elections should continue to stand firm behind the party now and the 2008 general elections, Mr Ofori-Adu urged.

He noted that there were many people in the party, who were qualified to be appointed as ministers, deputy ministers, ambassadors district chief executives and other positions but limited vacancies available could not make it possible for the President to appoint them all.

"That did not mean you have been sidelined or neglected", the former chairman stated and added that "we all must take consolation in the fact that those appointed have been performing creditably to improve the living conditions of our people".
