MP calls on Ghanaians to support government

Juaso (Ash), Jan 12, GNA - Mrs Gifty Ohene-Konadu, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Asante-Akim South Constituency, has called on Ghanaians to support the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government to enable it pursue its pragmatic policies to improve the living conditions of the people.

She said the government had proved beyond doubt in its six-year rule that it could liberate the nation from social discontent and also create an enabling environment for individuals to develop their potentials.

The MP, who is also a Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry, Private Sector Development and the President's Special Initiative, made the call at separate durbars organised in her honour during a tour of parts of the constituency.

Mrs Ohene-Konadu visited Teshie-Praso, Muramuraso, Kyempo, Dansabroso and Kumeso among other towns, to interact with the people to have fair knowledge of the people's concerns.

She asked the people not to heed to smear political campaigns by anti-government groups aimed at discrediting the government and said the NPP's track record over the last six years was enough evidence that the party has delivered on its campaign promises. The MP said the introduction of the Capitation Grant, Millennium Challenge Account, National Health Insurance Scheme, National Youth Employment Programme among others was meant to salvage Ghanaians from economic hardships.

Mrs Ohene-Konadu urged parents to take advantage of the improvement in the educational sector to enrol their children in school, adding that education was the best legacy they could bequeath to them. She presented a 24-inch colour television set to the people of Teshie-Praso and donated items including toys, biscuits bags to children under five years on admission at the Juaso District Hospital and inspected on-going projects there.

Dr Habib Ahmed, Medical Superintendent of the hospital appealed to the MP and other stakeholders to provide accommodation for staff of facilitate health delivery.
