Accra, Feb. 1, GNA - The Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) on Thursday announced the appointment of Madam Frankilina Asamoah as the new Interim National Organiser to replace Ms Frances Asiam, who has resigned citing ill health.

A statement signed in Accra by Mr Bede Ziedeng, Interim Deputy General Secretary; said Madam Elsie Avermegah Mensah has also been appointed Interim Deputy National Organiser while Mr Thomas Ketting has been appointed as National Executive Committee Member.

The statement said Ms Asiam informed the DFP of her inability to continue to hold her position and the Party's National Executive Committee (NEC) at its meeting on Wednesday "regrettably accepted her decision".

"The Party considers the health of Ms Frances Asiam as a prime issue and would not want to do anything that will cause any further deterioration of her health."

DFP praised Ms Asiam for her tremendous contribution towards the formation and building of the Party saying she had been a pillar of the Party, particularly in the women's front.

"Losing her services is, therefore, likely to affect the performance of the Party....Fortunately, she has not resigned from the Party."

The statement said Madam Asamoah was the former Brong Ahafo Regional Women Organiser of the NDC from 1996 to 2002, who resigned from the NDC to join the DFP.

The DFP said Madam Mensah was the National Youth Organiser of the 31 December Women's Movement from 1994 to 2000 while Mr Ketting was a NEC member of the People's National Convention and its parliamentary candidate for Lambuesie in the Upper West Region in Election 2000 and Election 2004. 1 Jan. 07
