Odeneho wins kwabre NPP case

Fri, 7 Dec 2007 Source: --

A Kumasi High court has ruled as unconstitutional a no confidence vote passed in the constituency chairman of NPP for Kwabre west Odeneho Kwaku Appiah last year.

The court ruled today that Odeneho kwaku Appiah and his team of executives has the right to organize constituency conference to select the 10 delegates to vote in the December congress to select a presidential candidate for the party. It would be recalled that a vote of no confidence was passed in the constituency chairman last year by some polling station chairmen.

Another team of constituency executives led by Kofi Anane was later inaugurated. The matter has been in court ever since. The court also ruled that nobody can hold himself up as chairman of the constituency apart from Odeneho. The ruling is largely viewed as a big blow to the MP for the area who is also the Ashanti regional minister Emmanuel owusu Ansah because of the support he enjoys from the other faction. It also awarded cost of 1000 ghana cedis against the four defendants.
