New constituency elects NDC MP candidate

Accra, Dec. 23, GNA - The NDC executives of the newly created Adenta Kpeshie Gonnor Constituency on Monday, organized primaries at the Adenta SSNIT Flats Community School to elect their future Member of Parliament.

The three aspirants who presented themselves for the elections were Alhaji Baba Zakari Abdella, Alhaji Adams Mahama and Mr. Kojo Adu-Asare.

At the close of the voting exercise, Mr. Kojo Adu-Asare emerged the winner with 44 votes and was closely followed by Alhaji Adams Mahama who obtained 34 votes, while Alhaji Baba Zakari Abdella had 17 votes. The results were declared by the Returning Officer, Mr. Fritz Addo from the Electoral Commission and the winner was introduced to the delegates amidst applause.

The defeated candidates both pledged their maximum support for the winner. Mr. Adu-Asare in his victory address thanked all the delegates and also pledged to work hand-in-hand with the losers and the entire members of the newly created constituency.

He advised the rank and file of the Constituency to work hard to enable the NDC to win the constituency.

Among those present were leading members of the NDC, Madam Shirley Ayittey, General Arnold Quainoo (Rtd), the Madina/Abokobi MP, Alhaji Amadu Sorogo and the NDC Regional Organizer, Mr. Jerry Acquaye Thompson and party faithful.
