Accra, Jan. 8, GNA - Mr. Godlove Quartey, a businessman and one of the contestants in the recent Ablekuma Central primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called for a new strategy and spirit to improve upon the image of the party in the constituency. He said destructive tendencies would not augur well for the building of the party, which was built through selflessness, dedication, sacrifice and hard work.

Mr Quartey, who said this when he organized a get-together for all the six aspirants and constituency executives at the weekend said he would work tirelessly to ensure NDC victory in both Parliamentary and Presidential elections in the Ablekuma Central Constituency. He cautioned that any differences between members, executives or aspirants would have to be buried if victory for the party was to be achieved in 2008. He therefore, disassociated himself from recent reports in the media that he was thinking to contest as an independent candidate and called on the NDC supporters to disregard it as baseless allegations.

Mr. Quartey said he was confident that the NDC was matured enough to solve its internal problems and therefore did not need to wash dirty linens in public, adding, "I am therefore appealing to other losing aspirants to iron out their differences for the sake of the party and the people, who are yearning for a change again". The Regional Chairman of NDC, Mr. Danny Annan, also called for absolute calm and tolerance among the aspirants and members of the party in the constituency.

He said this was the time the party supporters needed to put aside their personal differences and help ensure NDC win the 2008 elections. Mr Jerry Akwei Thompson, Regional Organiser of NDC said Ghanaians had been given the opportunity to assess the two administrations and he was sure that the hardship the people were going through now are enough to tell them that the time has come to vote the NPP out and bring back NDC to power.

Mr Theophilus Chaie, the candidate elect, urged the NDC members not to relent in the efforts at canvassing for more supports to enhance its chances of winning the 2008 general elections.
