Sunyani (B/A), Feb. 18, GNA - Mr. Boakye Yiadom Boateng, an NPP aspiring parliamentary candidate of Asunafo South constituency on Monday called on the party faithful and activists to counter the false propaganda being peddled by the NDC against it. This, he said, would not only enable the citizenry to realize the gains of the government but also would inspire them to vote massively for the NPP in the impending general election.

Mr. Boateng, who is Sales and Operations Manager of J. Adom Company Limited in Sunyani, was speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani. He explained that the party was poised to capture the constituency's seat from the NDC and was working hard to identify members who are abreast and understand government policies and programmes to serve as foot soldiers.

"This would enable them (foot soldiers)to educate the people at the grass roots about the policies and intentions of the government in helping to alleviate poverty", Mr. Boateng added. The parliamentary aspirant underscored the need for party members to help dispel the wrong perception among some people that the NPP was an Akan-based party.

"The NPP is one family under a great elephant, devoid of ethnic sentiments", Mr. Boateng stressed and appealed to the electorate not to be deceived by the opposition that the party's ideology was based on tribal lines.

He noted that voting the NDC back to power would not only worsen the plight of the ordinary Ghanaian but would also derail the gains made by the NPP government.

Mr. Boateng reminded Ghanaians, aged 18 and above who had not registered to do so when the voters' registration exercise was opened to enable them to exercise their franchise and to vote massively for the NPP.

He implored members of the party to desist from backbiting, internal wrangling and petty squabbles but rather to demonstrate unity of purpose and help solve the diverse problems facing the party. The parliamentary aspirant appealed to the youth wings of the party not to be complacent but to undertake house-to-house campaigns to explain the policies of the government to woo more people to join the party.
