Accra, June 8, GNA- Greater Accra regional executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), on Saturday concluded the auditing of its branches.

The branches would be sending delegates to the conference on the 15 of this month to select the parliamentary candidate for the Odododiodioo Constituency to contest the 2008 Election.

Auditing, which comes before a delegates' conference, was to ascertain that the branches really existed and tallied with the list of delegates that had been submitted.

Speaking at the end of the exercise in Accra, the NDC Regional Organiser, Mr Jerry Akwei Thompson, called for unity within the ranks of the party to enable the party to retain the seat and win the presidential election.

The incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Mr Jonathan Nii Tackie Komme thanked the executives of the various branches for their dedication and hard work.

He also commended them for their comportment and co-operation, which insured a success of the exercise and appealed to them to ensure a peaceful delegates' conference next week Sunday. The MP stated that "This is not the time for in-fighting. There should be unity and it is my expectation that my good work during my two-and-half years in office would enable me to retain the seat." Mr Daniel Nii Okai, constituency chairman, also praised the members for their discipline during the exercise and expressed the hope this would manifest during the delegate's conference. He said only the delegates would be needed during the conference and appealed to them to ensure a free and fair election. Some branch executives who spoke to the GNA, expressed concern about complaints some people regarding a video clip on the vetting of the candidates that was being circulated within the constituency. They questioned if they did not have the right to view the clip to help them make up their minds as to the one they should give their mandate to.

The executives said they were surprise that two of the three contestants had complained about the clip and asked whether they would have complained if did well. 8 June 08
