NPP Woman Causes Stir

Takoradi // THE Former Western Regional Women's Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Madam Abena Kwalla, a native of Enchi on Saturday afternoon caused an embarrassing scenario at the party's inauguration of Campaign Monitoring team for the region.

This was at the official residence of the Regional Minister in Sekondi, in the presence of the National Chairman of the party, Mr. Peter Mac Manu, the Campaign Director of the party, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku and Dr. Frimpong Boateng, former Chief Executive of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

Abena Kwalla, who is suffering the classic buyers remorse, after resigning her position to pitch camp with Papa Owusu Ankomah, now Trade and Industry Minister during the party's Presidential race and is now fighting tooth and nail to claim the position back. She came into the meeting late and virtually looking angry. She took her seat and began throwing tantrums with her cell phone ringing every minute and attracting the attention of party members and Journalists who were seated.

Then she started casting insinuations and insults on one Naana Amoah, who has been co-opted as regional Women Organizer. Her rudeness heightened when the programme of the day, which was being distributed failed to get to her table. All of a sudden she remarked 'even those (referring to Naana Amoah) who did not matter have got a copy of the programme'.

It was therefore not surprising when Abena Kwalla hijacked the meeting and started creating confusion and terrorizing every one at the meeting. The strange behavior of Abena lasted for about five minutes, which threw the entire meeting into pandemonium.

Abena has no formal education but she claims she completed Middle school, and has promised that she would one day prove her academic qualification. This was when Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku co-opted Naana Amoah as member of the Regional Campaign Monitoring team on the grounds that his attention has been drawn to the fact that the latter was the acting Regional Women's Organizer and therefore needed to be a member of the campaign team. Abena is also a member of the campaign team.

Abena Kwallah has the backing of Nana Owusu-Ankomah to stage a come back for her Women Organizer's position which she walked away from. She also has the backing of the Regional Secretary, Mr. Anthony K. K. Sam.

The likes of the Regional Minister and his Deputy, Anthony Evans Amoah and Mr. Kwasi Blay who are both members of the campaign team looked calm and would not utter a word.

It had to take the septuagenarian Dr. Addison, owner of Takoradi Beach Hotel to intervene by rising from his seat to shut Abena down for the meeting to continue. Abena Kwallah, unhappy with unfolding events told the meeting that she was going to the press and even invited some media houses to cover her intended press conference to expose the party.

But when this reporter reached Abena Kwalla on phone, she denied that she caused any commotion at the party's meeting, but key party members who spoke to this reporter expressed shock at Abena's outburst at the meeting.

Nonetheless, Nana Owusu Ankomah, the Regional Chairman who spoke to this reporter on the subject diplomatically denied that there was any commotion at the meeting. He told this reporter that as far as he was concerned, nothing strange happened and that the party was just moving on.
