Serigu(UE), July 20, GNA- A youth group in the Chiana-Paga Constituency in the Upper East Region at the weekend pledged their unflinching support for Mr. Rudolf Amenga -Etego , a 48 -year old legal practitioner, who is contesting as an independent Parliamentary candidate for the area.

Mr. Amenga-Etego who contested under the ticket of the NDC at the primaries with Mr. Abuga Pele the incumbent Member of Parliament and lost to Mr. Pele has decided to go independent.

The youth group called, "Friends and Supporters of Lawyer Rudolf Amenga-Etego" made the pledge in a Press Statement issued and signed by Mr. Akurugu Stephen, at a press conference held at Serigu, in the Chiana-Paga constituency at the weekend.

The Youth in their statement expressed disappointment at the performance of the Incumbent and alleged that he had been discriminating in terms of development projects in the area, focusing more on his community and its immediate environs to the detriment of some of the people in the Constituency.

The statement alleged that most of the areas in the constituency, which should have had school infrastructure, lacked them and school children had to commute for long distances to attend schools. The statement noted that the MP had failed to deliver most of the promises he made when he campaigned for the mandate of the people. He had promised the people dams, road networks, and building of more schools in the constituency.

The statement said that, most of the people in the area, especially the youth had to travel to the southern sector to look for non-existent jobs, saying the area needed dams for farming in the dry season. The statement said as a development worker, Mr. Amenga-Etego, had already demonstrated beyond reasonable doubt, that he was somebody who had good leadership qualities and could bring much development to the constituency.

It stated that Mr. Amenga-Etego through his personal resources had sponsored many students in the area up to the tertiary level, some of whom were gainfully employed. The statement appealed to the people in the area to rally behind the Independent Parliamentary candidate, to enable him win the seat, to bring development to the area. It urged people who had not registered to vote to do so when the registrations exercise begun. 21 July 08
