Tolon (NR), Aug. 22, GNA - Mr Dokurugu Sulemana, People's National Convention (PNC) parliamentary candidate for Tolon, has appealed to electorates not to vote back into office the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress.
He said it would be a mistake to return into office any of the two parties which had worsened the economic woes of Ghanaians. Mr Sulemana said this when he addressed party faithful at separate functions at Tolon, Tali and Wantigu in the Tolon Constituency to introduce himself as the PNC candidate and also to solicit for their votes in the December 7, 2008 election.
He said Ghanaians had gone through difficulties under the governments of the NDC and the NPP, which should serve as a wake-up call for the electorates to vote for the PNC as the better alternative for real change.
Mr Sulemana told the electorates: "Let us collect the money that they will bring but vote them out since it is our tax refund in disguise."
He urged the electorates not to panic by what he described as "hired crowds" they saw at NDC and NPP's rallies and functions saying: "If crowds win elections, the NDC would not have lost in the 2000 elections."
He said the PNC government, under Dr Edward Mahama, would focus on mechanized agriculture with emphasis on subsidy and improved roads. Mr Sulemana said the tarring of the Nyankpala/Tolon road had been long overdue and promised to use part of his share of the MP's Common Fund when voted into office to tar it.
Mr Alhassan Zakaria Gundaah, the PNC Northern Regional Chairman, asked members of the party to be vigilant on the voting day to ensure that the ruling NPP did not rig the elections.
He claimed that both the NDC and the NPP were troublemakers and advised the electorate to join the PNC for unity, development and real change to ensure that Ghana remained peaceful on the continent. He said the PNC in the Northern Region was already in the process of ploughing farms for farmers free of charge to increase productivity and improved the standard of living in rural areas
