Let's unite to retain Effutu seat - Owusu-Agyei appeals

Winneba, Oct. 15, GNA - Mr Samuel Owusu-Agyei, the New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Effutu, has urged party members in the area to unite and support him to retain the seat to continue to better develop the constituency.

He said: ".our constituency has witnessed some phenomenal changes under my stewardship as a Member of Parliament for Effutu and it is my desire that we will achieve some development in the years ahead". Mr Owusu-Agyei, who is also the Minister for Public Sector Reforms, said this to constituency party members and supporters at a rally to launch his campaign towards victory in the December 7, 2008 elections. He thanked members for his nomination to contest the Effutu seat again and urged them to join in intensifying campaign to woo more votes for him and the party's flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. He threw light on some of the development projects and programmes his party had undertaken in the area saying never in the political life of Ghana have people witness the changes seen in the education, health, road sectors.

Mr Owusu-Agyei mentioned two modern mortuary machines and industrial washing machines and its accessories as some items he provided to the Winneba Government Hospital in the constituency. He said he also made donation of drugs to the University of Education Clinic, two ambulances for the community and a lecture hall complex for Community Nursing School.

Other projects he noted included the construction of six classroom block with library, storeroom, staff common room and office for Methodist Primary School, Winneba, and the institution of educational scholarship for members of the area.

Mr Owusu-Agyei commended the chiefs and people of Effutu Municipality for the peace and tranquillity that had prevailed for the past few years and urged them to continue to foster greater unity. He urged the youth of the area not to engage in any act, which would be detrimental to peace in the December polls. Other speakers that addressed the rally were Mr Alex Markin, Presiding Member of the Effutu Municipal, Robert Andrews Ekow Ghanney, Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Jeberim, the Central Regional NPP Organiser.
