Accra, Nov. 20, GNA - The Odododiodioo Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is preparing to hold its Constituency Conference to elect officers for positions in the party.

Mr. Jonathan Tackie Komme; Member of Parliament made this known at a meeting with members of the party in Accra on Thursday. He denied claims that in a bid to entrench itself in power, the constituency executives were refusing to give nomination forms to members interested in contesting the election.

The MP stated that the NDC was currently engaged in auditing and re-organising the branches around polling stations in line with the party's guidelines for the holding of constituency conferences. Mr. Tackie Komme explained that those making the claims either did not know the party's guidelines or were just being mischievous to create disaffection within the party for their selfish interests. He urged the rank and file to disregard the allegation.

He said the re-organization exercise had been completed with the inauguration of the executives of the branches in two of the three wards of the constituency at Korle Workon and Ngleshie. Mr. Tackie Komme said efforts were being made to align the branches at the Kinka Ward around polling stations, adding that, immediately this was done their executives would also be inaugurated. Mr. Daniel Nii Okai, Constituency Chairman, said after the re-organisation exercise the executives would fix a date within a period set by the national executive for the holding of the conference. He said an Election Notice would be posted inviting interested members to file their nominations for the various positions to be contested. The Constituency Chairman stated that under the party's guidelines, those filing to contest positions should be active paid up members of good standing for at least four years.

Mr. Okai also asked the members of the NDC to "disregard the falsehood being peddled by people who want to project themselves now that the party is in power", and urged them to unite and work hard to ensure that the government honoured its campaign promises to make the 2012 election a foregone conclusion. 20 Nov. 09
