Koforidua, June 23, GNA - The Eastern Regional branch of the United Cadres Front has observed that, any attempt to change President John Evans Atta Mills as the presidential candidate of the party for the 2012 election, would not augur well for the party.
The group has therefore appealed to all cadres to close their ranks and throw their weight behind President Mills to achieve the 'Better Ghana Agenda" to enable the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to win the 2012 elections and beyond.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Front in Koforidua on Wednesday, and signed by the Eastern Regional Chairman of the group, Mr Richard K. Ansong, the Regional Secretary, Mr Kwesi Opare and the Regional Organizer, Mr Jonathan Kwao-Sarbah.
The statement appealed to all members of the NDC to endeavour to work towards maintaining unity, peace and cohesiveness of the party, and caution any group or groups within the party whose activities were dividing, confusing and damaging the unity of the party to desist from such acts, since they would be playing into the hands of the detractors of the party. The statement appealed to the leadership of the NDC to adopt an open door policy towards cadres at all levels of the party, so that together they could build a strong, united, and formidable party at all times.
