Thursday, July 22, 2010:- After two days of campaigning in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, Nana Akufo-Addo has proved to all why he is regarded as the lead contender in the upcoming primaries of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The man widely tipped to win the August 7 primaries and also the December 2012 general elections attracted a huge crowd when he began his tour of the Greater Accra Region with visits to the Kaneshie, Abossey Okai, Agbogbloshie, Kantamanto, Okaishie and Makola markets.

Nana Akufo-Addo, who virtually walked through one market to the other on foot, attracted loads of NPP supporters and sympathisers as well as members of the general public.

Nana Akufo-Addo’s arrival in the various markets visited sparked a spontaneous charge from the traders, most of whom followed him throughout his tour of the markets, some simply to touch him, others to hug him and some others to whisper a few words of encouragement into his ears.

Nana Akufo-Addo’s advice to his supporters to slow down on the ‘No Nana No Vote’ position seems to have fallen on deaf ears as that was the main chorus throughout the entire tour of these markets.

Amidst drumming and dancing, singing and shouting, party supporters and members of the general public gave the security agents a tough time as they tried to ensure that the programme will end without event.

In occasional brief speeches, Nana Akufo-Addo told traders and party supporters that the time is coming soon when the NPP will come back to power to salvage them from the suffering and deprivation that the NDC is imposing on them.

He tasked them to continue to propagate the message and let all Ghanaians know that it is the NPP that has the policies and programmes that can move our country forward.

In a radio interview, spokesperson, Dominic Nitiwul hinted that the visits to the market centre’s was meant to test the popularity of Nana Akufo-Addo “and as we have all seen, Nana Akufo-Addo remains the most popular figure in the NPP today.”

The day’s programme was ended with a visit to Paladium where Nana Akufo-Addo and his Victory 2012 Campaign Team met with delegates of the Odododiodio constituency to sell his message of hope to them.

There too, the story was the same. Party Supporters met him on his way and ushered him into the premises with the same chorus ‘No Nana No Vote’.

On his second day of touring the capital, Nana Akufo-Addo continued to attract loads of party supporters and citizens as he paid visits to the Ayawaso Central, Ayawaso East and Korle Klottey constituencies.

The Victory 2012 Campaign Team moved from Circle to Nima and then to Osu and in all these areas the huge popularity of Nana Akufo-Addo in the NPP and in the country was evident.

Nana Akufo-Addo, who is touring the Greater Accra Region to end his National Campaign Tour has been telling delegates of his party that Ghana is at the crossroads, and whether the country will continue to stagnate as we are experiencing under the NDC or will move forward under NPP, will largely depend on the decision that the NPP delegates will make on August 7.

He continued that he however has confidence in the delegates of the NPP and knows that like always, they will make the right choice come August 7.

He also used the opportunities to thank all delegates and party sympathizers for the love and support shown him since he started his tour of the Greater Accra Region.
