Five hopefuls are contesting for the NPP flagbearer position
A five-member committee, chaired by former Minister of Defence, Dr Kwame Addo-Kufuor, will today, September 23, 2025, commence the vetting of individuals who have filed nominations to contest the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer race on January 31, 2026.
The hopefuls, comprising former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Assin Central Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Abetifi Dr Bryan Acheampong, Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, and former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, are expected to appear before the committee.

The party, seeking to reorganise ahead of the 2028 general elections, opened nominations for the flagbearer position on July 29, 2025, and closed nominations a month later on Thursday, August 28, 2025.
