The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Presidential Election Committee, Joseph Osei-Owusu, popularly known as Joe Wise, has explained that the peace pact being introduced for the party’s presidential aspirants is aimed at safeguarding unity and confidence in the internal electoral process.

According to him, the pact is intended to ensure that all contestants publicly affirm that the process leading to the selection of the party’s flagbearer has been fair, transparent, and inclusive.

“The main purpose of this peace pact is to get the contestants to affirm that the process has so far been transparent, inclusive, and fair,” he said at the event on Thursday, January 22, 2026.

He noted that the NPP expects all aspirants to commit to accepting the outcome of the contest and supporting whoever eventually wins.

“We want them to commit to accepting the results and to supporting whoever wins among the five members of the team of saints,” he stated.

Joe Wise explained that such a commitment would give party members the confidence to participate freely in campaigning and voting without fear of division or post-election tensions.

“We believe that this will enable members of the party to build the confidence we need to freely campaign and vote for whom they choose,” he added.

He further stressed that the peace pact is not a mere formality but one that should be treated seriously by all involved.

“Our faith and prayer is that this pact will be taken seriously, as a binding agreement between them, the team of saints, the party, and our God,” he said.

Osei-Owusu expressed optimism that the initiative would strengthen the party ahead of future electoral contests.
