Constituency chairmen of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region have pledged their full and unflinching support to the party’s newly elected flagbearer, Dr Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia, following his decisive victory in the presidential primary on Saturday, January 31, 2026.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, February 2, 2026, the caucus of 47 constituency chairmen said the gathering was convened to thank God for the party’s progress and to formally congratulate Dr Bawumia on what they described as a “loud and resounding victory.”

The spokesperson for the caucus, Frederick Agyemang Mensah, said the chairmen were united behind the flagbearer and ready to work under his leadership to secure victory in the upcoming general elections.

“We are here to rally our support for him, to wish him well, and to assure him that, having been elected as the flagbearer of the party, we are committing ourselves to his direction,” Mensah stated.

He emphasised that the caucus would fully align with the agenda set by Dr. Bawumia and work tirelessly until the party achieves electoral success.

“We are waiting for him to set out the agenda, and we will follow that agenda through to the end so that, at the end of the day, the party symbol — the elephant — becomes our winning symbol,” he added.

The Ashanti Region is considered a stronghold of the party, and the endorsement from constituency chairmen is seen as a significant boost to Dr. Bawumia’s campaign as preparations begin for the national elections in 2028.

The Kwabre East Constituency Chairman also reiterated the caucus’s commitment to party unity and victory.
