Dr Yakubu Azindow is contesting the Ayawaso East seat
Dr Yakubu Azindow, a contender in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Ayawaso East parliamentary primaries, has urged delegates to give him a chance.
According to him, he is the only aspirant who has not yet benefited from government appointments since the party came to power.

In a video sighted by GhanaWeb and shared by Citi FM on Facebook on Friday, February 6, 2026, the politician noted that his opponents have benefitted from government appointments, citing Baba Jamal Ahmed, the High Commissioner to Nigeria, as an example.
“I think I deserve to be given a chance. Among all those that are contesting, I’m the only person who has not been fixed anywhere since we came to power. We have His Excellency Baba Jamal Ahmed, who is our High Commissioner to Nigeria so he's been sorted out; that is my view,” Dr Azindow said.
Dr Azindow further mentioned the wife of the late former MP of the constituency, noting that she has secured several appointments under the government.
He also pointed out that the party’s constituency chairman, who is vying for the seat, has also received an appointment at NADMO.
“Hajia, who is also the former MP's wife, is a member of three different boards: the Hajj Board, the Sankofa Prestea Mines, and the Lands Commission Board, so, I think it's enough for one person. If you think about our constituency chairman who is also running, he is the National Liaison Officer for NADMO, so, he's been sorted out,” he emphasised.
Dr Azindow emphasised his contributions to the party, noting that despite his efforts, he has yet to be offered any appointment.
He noted that since he has not yet been appointed, it is only right for him to be elected to represent the constituency.
“Despite all the contributions that I made to the party, I feel I still haven't been offered [any appointment]. It's not because I deserve it more than any other person but of course, we are running a lean government and when the opportunity presents itself, they fix it somehow.

“Since I have not been fixed and this vacuum has been created, I think it only makes sense and it's fair in my mind for me to replace the MP and I believe the delegates will understand,” he appealed.
