Fifi Kwetey shared this picture of himself and Dr Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings on social media on Monday
The General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, has shared a post on social media, which has fuelled month-long claims of President John Dramani Mahama’s decision to appoint Dr Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings as Minister of Defence.
The post, which was shared on Monday, March 23, 2026, included what appeared to be a recent picture of Fifi Kwetey and Dr Agyemang Rawlings, the Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, both smiling.
The NDC General Secretary, in his post, pointed out that life is a journey and not a race, adding that every person will get what is meant for them at the right time.
He indicated that what is needed while waiting for the “right time” is patience and consistency.
“Don’t rush your journey. What is meant for you will come together at the right time. Stay patient. Stay consistent.
“Have a great and peaceful week,” Fifi Kwetey wrote on Facebook.
Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings currently holds no ministerial position in the John Dramani Mahama government.
President Mahama was heavily criticised by some political analysts after Zanetor missed out on his first set of ministerial appointments.
It can be recalled that Mahama, during a meeting with Muslim leaders at the Jubilee House on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, disclosed that he will appoint his substantive Minister of Defence and Minister of Environment, Science and Technology in 2026.
"They say Allah gives and Allah takes. He took two of our comrades, and we haven't filled those positions yet. We will make those appointments next year. After the holiday, the Christmas holiday, we will fill those positions," he said.
President Mahama also urged the public to disregard rumours about imminent ministerial appointments.
"So those speculating about somebody going to be appointed tomorrow and all that, just take your time, go and enjoy Christmas, and after Christmas we will fill those ones," he added.
The two ministerial positions became vacant following the demise of Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Dr Murtala Mohammed in 2025.
The two late ministers were among eight individuals who tragically died in a helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, while on their way to a national assignment in the Ashanti Region.
