NPP Chairman Race: Joe Wise, Henry Quartey join Boakye Agyarko

Two stalwarts of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), former Minister of the Interior, Henry Quartey, and former 1st Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei-Owusu (Joe Wise), have joined the campaign team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman hopeful, Boakye Agyarko.

A statement issued by the spokesperson for the Boakye Agyarko Campaign, Vincent Frimpong Manu, showed that the two NPP leading members have been appointed to leading positions in the team.

Joe Wise, a former Member of Parliament for Bekwai, would be taking on the position of Senior Campaign Advisor, with Henry Quartey, a former Member of Parliament for Ayawaso Central, as Campaign Manager.

“Ahead of the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) internal elections, leading National Chairman aspirant, Hon. Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko, has officially announced the top leadership of his campaign team," part of the statement reads.

“... The campaign will be led by two of the party's most respected and experienced political figures: Hon. Henry Quartey: Campaign Manager - (former Minister for the Interior and Greater Accra Region, and former Member of Parliament for Ayawaso Central). Hon. Joseph Osei-Owusu (Joe Wise): Senior Campaign Advisor - (former First Deputy Speaker of Parliament and former Member of Parliament for Bekwai).

The statement indicated that Boakye Agyarko chose these two men to lead his campaign because they have the qualities to mobilise the grassroots of the party.

“In selecting these two stalwarts, Hon. Boakye Agyarko has signalled his intent to run a grassroots-centred campaign. Both Hon. Osei-Owusu and Hon. Henry Quartey bring to the table an admirable track record of grassroots mobilisation, sharp political acumen, and significant national influence. Their combined experience in legislative affairs, internal party dynamics, and executive governance provides the Boakye Agyarko Campaign with a formidable strategic advantage,” it added.

It added that the two men are the right people to help Boakye Agyarko achieve his vision to “rebuild, restructure and rebrand” the NPP for victory in the 2028 general election.
