Johnson Asiedu Nketiah is the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)
The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has defended the party’s approach to appointments, insisting that merit not ethnicity remains the guiding principle.
Addressing supporters during his ‘Thank You Tour’ in the Ashanti Region, he reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to fairness and national inclusivity, stressing that no Ghanaian is sidelined based on tribal background.
According to a report by Adom Online on April 13, 2026, Asiedu Nketiah stated that individuals are selected for roles based on their competence and ability to contribute to national development.

“We are not selective. Whoever deserves the position will be rewarded regardless of where they come from,” he said.
He further dismissed claims that the party marginalises certain ethnic groups, particularly Asantes, describing such allegations as baseless and inconsistent with the NDC’s principles of equal opportunity.
He emphasised that competence, merit, and hard work remain the key criteria for appointments within the party.
