It reinforces my view that politicians aspiring to positions such as MCE and above should undergo rigorous and transparent competency assessment before being allowed to run for any public office.
Such a system should clearly demonstrate a candidate’s level of understanding on important national issues and policy areas. In addition, there should be credible and independent screening of sources of financing and potential conflicts of interest for obvious reasons.
Public office carries immense responsibility, and the standards for occupying it should reflect that reality.
