Nana Agyeiwaa Baffoe-Bonnie Michaels, a 22-year-old law student, has announced her intention to contest the parliamentary election in the Manhyia South Constituency in the Ashanti Region.

The student, popularly known as Okordie, made her intentions known in an interview sighted by GhanaWeb on July 14, 2026, and said she will contest on the ticket of The Base Movement.

She explained that her decision is driven by the need for more development in the constituency, adding that previous concerns raised about leaders have not yielded the expected results.

“My name is Nana Agyeiwaa Baffoe Bonnie Micheals popularly known as Okordie. I have the intention to contest as the Member of Parliament for Mahyia South constituency. My reason is that we need development in the constituency and townships which we have informed the leaders about but to no avail,” she said.

According to her, the constituency has not seen enough development despite repeated promises from political leaders.

“We haven’t seen any developmental projects in the constituency and it is just a repeated cycle of failed promises. If the EC opens nomination for interested persons to pick up forms for the parliamentary elections. I will contest and pick the forms to represent Manhyia South,” she added.

She further stated that her decision is aimed at creating a better future for residents and future generations.

“We don’t want to fail the future generations. I am declaring my intention on the ticket of The Base because their policies will develop the constituency. Their promises are not mere words, but commitments that are fulfilled,” she added.
