Let's reunite, rebuild, and recapture power - Paul Afoko to NPP memebers

A New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman aspirant, Paul Afoko, has advised party members to prioritise unity within the party.

He stressed that members must reunite, rebuild, and strengthen the party's structures to recapture power, which he described as the three R's that will guide his leadership if elected.

Speaking during a press conference to announce his intention to contest for the position of National Chairman on July 14, 2026, he said, "My message is simple. It is a message of the three R's, which I will go into later, but the three R's stand for reunite, rebuild, and strengthen the structures of the party, and then recapture power. The three R's.

"These are not slogans for decoration. They are practical steps for renewal. We must reunite. The NPP cannot win when it is divided. We cannot win when old wounds remain open. We cannot win when loyal members feel excluded, humiliated, ignored, or pushed aside. We cannot win when our internal competition becomes internal destruction," he stressed.

Afoko emphasised that his intention to contest for the chairmanship position followed extensive consultations with party elders and stakeholders concerning the challenges facing the party, and the hope that it can recapture power rather than being driven by personal interest.

"I've listened to elders of the party, I've listened to grassroots members, I've listened to constituency and regional leaders, and I have listened to women, youth, patrons, former executives, former appointees, Members of Parliament, and parliamentary candidates. I have also listened to ordinary party workers who have carried the elephant through very difficult terrain for many years. And in listening, I have heard pain, I've heard disappointment, I've heard frustration, but I've also heard hope, I've heard loyalty, I've heard courage.

"I've heard a strong desire that the NPP must rise again. It is after these extensive consultations that I'm here today to formally announce my intention to offer myself, subject to the rules of the party, for the position of National Chairman of the NPP. I do so not out of personal ambition. I do so because I believe our party is at a defining moment. I do so because I believe the NPP can recover, rebuild, and return to government. I do so because I believe that with the right leadership, the right organisation, and the right spirit, the NPP can once again earn the confidence of the Ghanaian people," he added.

He called on party members to uphold the core traditions of the party, which include respect, discipline, tolerance, service, and loyalty to a cause that is bigger than any individual.

"We must bring back the abiding principles of our tradition, which are respect, discipline, tolerance, service, and loyalty to a cause bigger than any one individual," he stated.
