New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart, Titus Glover, has accused the government of persecuting the Director of Communications for Dr Bawumia’s campaign team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, describing his arrest by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) as politically motivated.
Speaking during the NPP's demonstration in Accra on Monday, July 13, 2026, Glover argued that the manner in which Aboagye was arrested upon his arrival at the Accra International Airport was unnecessary and intended to humiliate him.

According to him, if EOCO believed Aboagye had committed an offence, it should have invited him for questioning rather than arresting him publicly.
"If you believe he has done something, invite him to come. Why do you wait for him to be shackled and then come and arrest him? You have kept him in custody for all this time. No access to lawyers. What do you think you're doing? If this is not persecution, then how do you describe it?" he questioned.
Glover also accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government of repeating actions it had previously criticised while in opposition.
"If you think what we did was wrong, why do you come back and repeat the same thing? Why do you do that?" he asked.
The former Greater Accra Regional Minister contrasted the treatment of Aboagye with that of some high-profile individuals who faced prosecution under the erstwhile Akufo-Addo administration.
"Opuni, Agongo... even though they were going through court proceedings in our time, they had the opportunity to travel outside, see their lawyers and receive medical attention. But look at what they are doing now," he said.
While insisting that no one should be shielded from investigations, Glover stressed that due process and respect for suspects' rights must be upheld.
"I'm not saying that if anybody has done wrong and is being interrogated, they shouldn't invite him. But the methodology, the way you conduct it, that is where people are questioning," he noted.
He further criticised what he described as the silence of the media over the arrest, arguing that the issue had broader implications for Ghana's democratic credentials.
"It is sending a signal that the way Mahama and his government are running this country is not good," he stated.
Glover maintained that Aboagye had no reason to evade justice and would have honoured any invitation extended to him.
"If Miracle has wronged you, you can invite him quietly. A lot of NPP ministers and appointees have been coming and going. Why only Miracle? He has just arrived at Accra International Airport, and they whisked him away like a fugitive. That is the problem. That is the challenge which the media and Ghanaians have to address," he said.
He also urged party supporters to rally behind Aboagye, insisting that the arrest would not weaken the opposition party.
"The spirit of the NPP and the elephant is strong. You can't break it. Our party is so resilient. If they think what they are doing can break it, then they are mistaken," Glover declared.
