Patricia Hlorbu files nomination to contest NPP Volta Regional Women Organizer

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Volta Region has a new face stepping forward with bold ambition and youthful energy.

Patricia Etornam Hlorbu, an entrepreneur, public relations professional, and advocate for skills development, has officially filed her nomination to contest for the position of NPP Volta Regional Women Organizer for 2026.

At the filing, Etornam described her bid not merely as a personal milestone but as a generational shift for the party in a region where the NPP is seeking to expand its political footprint.

She is believed to be the youngest person to contest a regional executive position in the Volta Region, a development that has drawn attention across party ranks.

Etornam enters the race with a background built outside traditional politics.

She has experience in entrepreneurship, public relations, and skills development. She believes these three pillars are exactly what the party's women's wing needs to connect with young women, market women, and professionals across the Volta Region's 18 constituencies.

"I didn't come to occupy a position. I came to work," she said in her nomination statement. "My mission remains clear and unwavering: to reclaim victory in 2028 and beyond, reform our systems to work for everyone, and revive hope across our great NPP in the Volta Region."

For years, the NPP has set ambitious electoral targets in the Volta Region, an area long considered a stronghold of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Etornam is now putting numbers to that ambition.

She is confident that, with the right structures, effective mobilization, and renewed energy within the women's wing, the NPP can secure between 150,000 and 200,000 votes in the 2028 general election.

In her message to delegates, Etornam outlined what she described as a practical approach rather than relying on campaign slogans.

As a public relations practitioner, she plans to amplify the stories and contributions of NPP women at the grassroots level.

As an entrepreneur, she hopes to connect party women with skills training, funding opportunities, and support for small businesses.

Drawing on her background in skills development, she said she understands the gap between policy and the everyday realities of women selling in markets or running startups in communities such as Ho, Keta, Battor, Adidome, Kpando, Hohoe, Kpeve, and Sogakope.

"This is a shared vision," she told supporters. "With your prayers, guidance, and mandate, we will re-energize our women's wing and secure a historic victory for our great party."

Party insiders say her entry into the race has changed the conversation around youth participation within the NPP in the Volta Region.

At a time when political parties are under increasing pressure to introduce new faces capable of connecting with younger voters, Etornam's profile as a young entrepreneur and communications professional distinguishes her from other contenders.

The Regional Women Organizer position is regarded as critical to grassroots mobilization. The office coordinates women's activities, drives voter registration efforts, and mobilizes support on election day.

Etornam believes reforming the operations of the women's wing will be essential to the party's broader objective of making the Volta Region more politically competitive.

"Hope is not a campaign word. Hope is jobs, training, dignity, and a party structure that answers when you call," she said. "That is what I want to build with you."

She concluded her filing message by expressing gratitude to her supporters, saying:

With nominations now officially filed, attention turns to the campaign ahead. Delegates will be assessing how each aspirant intends to grow party membership, empower women economically, and deliver electoral success.
