Bawumia has not opposed Agyarko’s NPP chairmanship bid - Joe Wise

Former First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei-Owusu, popularly known as Joe Wise, has rejected claims that former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is opposed to Boakye Agyarko becoming the next National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to Osei-Owusu, Dr Bawumia has not publicly stated anywhere that he does not want the former Energy Minister to lead the party as National Chairman.

He instead attributed the claims to individuals within Dr Bawumia’s circle, accusing them of attempting to influence NPP delegates against Agyarko.

“Dr Bawumia has not said anywhere that he doesn’t want Boakye Agyarko to become NPP National Chairman,” Osei-Owusu said.

He named Opare Ansah, Anthony Karbo, Alolo, and others as individuals he believes are behind the claims.

According to him, the individuals are seeking to have an NPP chairman they can control, hence their alleged efforts to undermine Agyarko’s chances.

“It is people around him, like Opare Ansah, Anthony Karbo, Alolo and others, who are behind these claims. They want a chairman they can control, so they are trying to poison the minds of delegates against Agyarko,” he stated.

Osei-Owusu further alleged that those pushing the claims know they couldn't control Agyarko if he becomes the party’s National Chairman.

“They know they can’t control Boakye Agyarko,” he added.
